The Richland Newhope board got a preliminary look Wednesday at the governor's budget for the Ohio Department of Developmental Disabilities. Superintendent Liz Prather gave a power-point presentation on John Kasich's spending plan for the next two fiscal years starting July first. She says the state budget calls for reductions in the numbers of individuals living in group homes, and more use of waivers, which allow financial support for people with developmental disabilities living in their own homes. Prather also expects a one-percent reduction in the federal government's match for Medicaid, but she says the budget proposal does include more funding for placing people with developmental disabilities into community employment. |
