Telephone and internet scams are running rampant, and many people are falling for them and losing money, sometimes thousands of dollars.

Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine stopped in at WMFD to talk about various scams, including one in which callers claim to be from his office.

He says the caller will berate the resident, demanding they re-pay a debt, most commonly a pay-day loan, and threaten legal action if the money is not sent immediately.

DeWine says his office never calls people demanding money.

He tells us about two other common scams, and what to do if you're the target, each day this week on NewsWatch.
