Caller ID Could Be Useful When A Scammer Calls

Your caller ID can be useful in either avoiding a conversation with a telephone scammer, or as evidence to report one. But Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine says it's not fool-proof, because scammers know how to use telephone technology to their benefit. The best option is to not answer your phone if you don't recognize the number, and especially if the caller I-D says "unknown caller". Let it go to voice mail. If the caller has a legitimate reason to talk to you, they'll leave a message. Scammers probably won't. |
