Western Reserve is moving on the Division III district finals at Willard after knocking off Ontario Thursday night 62-56.

The Roughriders trailed after the first quarter 14-11, but would take a slight lead into the break at 28-27. The Warriors Cam Mack had a game-high 9 first half points in limited minutes with foul trouble, while Western Reserve was paced by Craig Meyer's 7.

Ontario fell behind 47-43 heading into the fourth after a 19-16 third quarter spurt by the Roughriders, but things would tighten up in the final stanza. Western Reserve opened up the largest margin of the game with a six-point advantage midway through the fourth quarter, however the Warriors would ralley to tie with just over three minutes left in regulation. The teams would trade free throws back and fourth down the stretch, but missed opportunities by Ontario and 5/6 converted Roughriders free throws in the closing minutes would give Western Reserve a six-point win.

Meyer finished tied for a game-high with 14 points to lead the Roughriders charge, while teammates Willie Roth added 12, Nate Ash 9.

Mack also had 14 for the Warriors, Blake Balogh chipped in with 9 and Cameron West posted 8.

The loss ends Ontario's 11-game winning streak and wraps up their season at 20-5. The Warriors were the outright winners of the North Central Conference title in its final season, going 13-0 in league play before making the move to the Northern Ohio League next season. The team loses four senior's in Balogh, West, Wyatt Clemens and Mitchell Phelps.

Western Reserve improves to 19-5 overall and will take on Huron (19-5) Saturday night in the Division III district championship game at Willard after the Tigers slaughtered New London in the semi's 69-33. Tip-off at 7 p.m.
