A snowfall and dropping temperature overnight led to slippery roads and car accidents during Wednesday morning's rush hour. One was at West Fourth Street and Trimble Road in Mansfield, where a car hit the side of an Ohio Department of Transportation salt truck on its way out to try to prevent accidents. Mansfield Police Officer Denny Kiner says the car was southbound on Trimble, turning westbound onto West Fourth, when it slid into the truck. The woman was not hurt, but her car sustained disabling damage and she was cited for failing to control her car. Mansfield Police and the Mansfield post of the Ohio Highway Patrol handled numerous accidents, but none with serious injury. Motorists are advised to be prepared for icy spots, especially on ramps and bridges and when making turns. |
