Authorities say four teenagers died in a car crash in Wilmington, Illinois, which is about 60 miles southwest of Chicago. The car plunged into a creek on Monday. One of the car's tires was spotted by a school bus driver Tuesday morning while going over the bridge at a creek. The car's windows were rolled up. And the bodies of the teens were found inside. Police briefed reporters after the discovery. There could have very well have been icing as well as water on the roadway just before the bridge. It appears that the vehicle may have exited the roadway at the top of the bridge to the south, the guardrail is missing. The ages of the victims ranged from 14 to 17. And they were all current or former students at the same high school. Authorities continue to investigate the cause of the crash. There were similar crashes involving teen drivers and victims over the weekend. Five died in a crash in Dumas, Texas and six others were killed in a wreck in Warren, Ohio. |
