After going undefeated during the regular season in baseball, winning a North Central Conference championship and an AP Poll title with an overall record of 25-1, the Ontario baseball team is gearing up for the start of the 2013 season.  Coach Dan Gorbett lost three seniors from last year's squad which featured All-Ohio first teamer Drew Steinhour.

For 2013, several players are coming back which include seniors Tyler Beal, Wyatt Clemens, Justin Henry, Mitch McCristall, Vinny Sansalone and Nicholas Stumpf.  Gorbett hopes his teams defense is as good as what it was a season ago when the Warriors committed just 28 errors in 26 games.  He says pitching and defense so far this season has improved as best he can tell without getting outside due to the weather.  As far judging how good the team is at this point is tough having not been out on the infield or outfield much.   Also most of the hitting has been confined to indoor batting cages.

The Warriors will open the season, weather permitting on Saturday, March 30th at Mansfield Senior.  The team will then play six non-conference opponents before opening the NCC portion of the schedule on Monday, April 15th against Upper Sandusky.  One of the goals of this year's team is a return trip to the regionals after seeing last year's 25 game winning streak stopped by Edison by a final of 9-4 in the Division III district semifinal.
