Original Published: 3/25/2013Michigan Postal workers and members of the community are protesting the end of Saturday mail service. They say losing mail Saturday delivery will lead to more, deep cuts to the postal service. They also say senior citizens, small businesses, and rural areas will be the hardest hit. The government accountability office says the post office is legally bound to deliver mail on Saturdays. The U.S. Postal Service is facing rising deficits that led Postmaster General Patrick R. Donahoe to announce plans limit service to weekdays. This move is expected to save $2-billion a year.
