Crawford Prepping For Softball

With the weather not cooperating with any spring sport coach in the area, just about every baseball and softball team has been forced inside as they try and prep for the season which for some teams begins this weekend.  An area team that always seems to be in NCC contention is Col.Crawford. 

After finishing last season at 18-11, 9-4 in conference, veteran coach Chuck Huggins says this may be a season where alot of learning is done on the fly with teams unable to get outside on the field.  Crawford returns six seniors to this year's squad Nickyla Gaverick, Kendra Hudson, Sara Swisher, LeAnna Massey, Gabrielle Wirich and Brenna Brown. 

Huggins added that in addition to regular season goals, the team has used last year's early exit from the tournament in the sectionals to Mansfield Christian as added motivation for this season.  Last season's loss to the Flames snapped a two year run for Col. Crawford as Division IV district champions.
