A Marion man was killed when he wrecked his car around 5:30 a.m. Saturday on Ohio 309 at the west edge of Big Island.

Travis Tron, 33, was pronounced dead at the scene by Marion County Coroner Dr. Marc Comianos.

The Marion post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol says Tron's car failed to negotiate a curve on Ohio 309 with the vehicle traveling off the roadway, shearing a utility pole before rolling onto its top.

Tron was not wearing a safety belt at the time of the accident, which remains under investigation.
