Richland County Children Services has been re-accredited for four more years. This is the fourth straight time the agency has achieved national standards in its operations since first being accredited in the year 2000. The Services and Program Committee of the Children Services Board met Wednesday afternoon to review the report from the International Council on Accreditation.  Director Patty Harrelson says they got high marks in all areas, mostly notably for safety and health standards and fiscal accountability. The report recommends Children Services get into the habit of doing annual community surveys, and the committee is making plans to do that. The last survey was in 2008.
