Original Published: 4/8/2013You never know when a major disaster might strike. And the Richland County Chapter of the American Red Cross needs more volunteers for its Disaster Action Team. The group opened a readiness center last January at the Community Services building in downtown Mansfield, where it stores supplies for any type of disaster.   That includes house fires, floods, severe thunder and snow storms, and setting-up cooling stations during times of extreme heat. The Disaster Action Team has six members, and has scheduled a training session for new volunteers for June 17th.  It hopes to recruit up to ten more. To apply to become a Red Cross Disaster Action Team member, or to donate money to the team, log on to www.redcross.org\richland.
