Seminar Helps People With Diabetes In Emergency Situations

The Ashland County-City Medical Reserve Corps Unit#1181 held a live-webinar entitled "How to Help People With Diabetes in Emergency Situations," Monday evening at the Ashland County Service Center in Vermillion Township.
  

The webinar was presented by MaryAnn Nicolay,B.A., DTR, of the Diabetes Partnership of Cleveland, from the auditorium of the Cuyahoga County Board of Health.
  
Ray Herbst, director of Public Health Emergency Preparedness and Health Education, said the webinar showed how to help people with diabetes in emergency situations.

Nicolay provided information about diabetes pathology, diabetes treatment including medicine and diet.

She also addressed concerns that diabetics have if they are evacuated during a crisis and need to enter a mass emergency shelter.
