Ontario's First Ward city councilwoman is one of two Democrats seeking the nomination for Mayor.

Pam Drake, former president of United Autoworkers 549 for the closed General Motors stamping plant, wants to lead the town she calls home to a prosperous future.

She told her fellow Democrats of her plans during this week's party luncheon.

Drake says economic growth is an all-encompassing effort, just just job creation.  She says Ontario must also improve its infrastructure to sustain growth.

Drake's opponent in the May 7 Democratic primary election is Dave Metzger, a retired autoworker, former city council member and president, and current deputy city auditor.
