Original Published: 4/17/2013Expansion of the Medicaid program in Ohio was the topic of discussion at the Richland County Mental Health and Recovery Services Board meeting Tuesday. Gov. John Kasich's two-year state budget includes plans to implement the expansion. Joe Trolian, executive director of the board says the expansion of the program would help the consumers his agency serves who currently have a hard time finding services they need."Medicaid serves a small portion of our population with the expansion it would be based soley on income. By expanding the program anybody at or below 138 percent of the poverty level would be eligible," Trolian said. Trolian said some people have concerns about the expansion because it's apart of the  Afffordable Care Act. He said some people feel if they support the expansion they're in turn supporting the Affordable Care Act.He said they're two different issues. He said people can still support the expansion and make healthcare more available to more individuals.    Currently the Medicaid program provides coverage for one of every five residents in Ohio.
