Rock Road Being Paved For Re-Opening

We have good news for long-suffering Rock Road residents in Ontario.

The road is being re-paved and widened to two lanes, and weather permitting, should be re-opened by Friday.

Rock Road was closed to through traffic July 22, 2011 when a truck hit the Civil War era sandstone railroad bridge, damaging it to the point where it has to be torn down.

Mayor Larry Collins says Shelly and Sands Asphalt Company opened a week earlier than others to get the project done as soon as possible.

The entire length of Rock Road will be re-paved this summer.

Mayor Collins has sent a letter to residents informing them of the project and thanking them for their patience during the 21-month effort to get the bridge removed and the road open.
