Spring Football Wraps Up At AU

The Gold beat the Purple 21-8 in the annual spring football game at Jack Miller Stadium this weekend concluding spring drills at Ashland University.  With the graduation of quarterback Taylor Housewright, several signal callers got into the mix in an effort to get a head start on the job.  T.K. Rock (6-14, 80 yards, 1TD) Adam Wallace (7-10, 57 yards), Ashland native Zach Bernhard (6-11, 52 yards) and Derek Swinderman who was one for five passing.

Of note, Logan Slavinski caught three passes for 61 yards and one touchdown for the Gold team.  Reid Masters gained 124 yards on 18 carries with a four yard touchdown and was named offensive player of the game, while Domi-on Combs who had six tackles, a sack, a pass breakup and a blocked kick was named defensive player of the game.  

Anthony Taylor, Slavinski and Reid Masters scored touchdowns for the Gold team, Trevor Miller scored for the Purple.  Ashland University will open the football season on the road on September 7th, at Indianapolis at 6:05pm.  The defending GLIAC champions will play their home opener on September 21st against Ferris State at 7pm.
