Galion High School quarterback and wide receiver Dareian Watkins has given a verbal commitment to Northwestern University of the Big Ten Conference.  The 6'2"195lb senior to be, made the announcement on Monday.  Watkins started the 2012 season at quarterback but shifted back to his old position of recevier after an injury in week four.  As a wide receiver Watkins caught 14 passes for 295 yards and four touchdowns earning All-Ohio third team honors at that position.

From the quarterback position he ran for 416 yards scoring ten touchdowns and passed for another 225 with four touchdown passes.  Watkins helped lead the Tigers to a regular season record of 9-1 and a trip to the OHSAA post season.  At this point the Wildcats are looking at Watkins as a receiver.  Galion opens the 2013 football season on the road Friday, August 30, at Fairbanks.
