Sweet retirement has come for a long-time public servant in Richland County.

Sheriff's Deputy Danny Rogers was given a grand send-off Thursday afternoon after serving for twenty-six years, the first two as a corrections officer, then in road patrol.

He says it's been an enjoyable career and he'll miss the guys.

Rogers is an ordained minister, and plans to spend some time in his retirement years in the ministry.
Otherwise, he'll just relax.

Sheriff Steve Sheldon also swore-in a new special deputy, Constable Chris Harvey of the London, England Police Department.

Harvey met and befriended a Richland County Sheriff's Deputy at the National Police Memorial in Washington, and has been visiting and riding along with the deputy for ten years.
