The Memorial holiday weekend period is the unofficial start of summer, and also brings about stepped up patrol efforts by local law enforcement agencies.

A briefing was held at the Ashland County Sheriff's Office before a high visibility patrol operation was conducted by a three-county sheriff's office contingent according to Ashland County Sheriff Wayne Risner.

Richland County Sheriff Steve Sheldon says Richland, Ashland and Huron counties all work well together in this type of operation.

Sheriff Risner says the goal behind the operation is safety for all deputies involved and to make for safer communities for everyone.
