Local residents and members of various civic groups lent a hand over the weekend to place American flags on the graves of veterans in Mansfield Cemetery.

This year's Mansfield Memorial Day Parade Marshal, Dennis Hempfield, says the placing of the flags is in preparation of the Memorial Day celebration.

Hempfield says there was a wonderful turnout of volunteers to help place the flags on the veterans' graves.

Refreshments were served to all of the volunteers who took part in the day's event.

Hempfield says this year's Mansfield Memorial Day Parade steps off at 10:30 a.m. Monday and will feature 41 units.
