Area Athletes Earn All-Ohio In Track

Several area athletes earned All-Ohio honors at the OHSAA state track meet at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium Saturday.  In the Division II discus throw, Ontario's Eli Burdette had a repeat performance from last year in the discus throw finishing third with a toss of 170'1".  Burdette also made the podium in 8th place in the shot put at 53'2.25".

In the Division I girls discus throw, Ashland's Mariah Mansperger finished seventh with a toss of 134'7".  On the track, Col.Crawford's Keith Martin finished as Division III state runner-up in the 110 meter hurdles in a time of 14.49.  In the D-3 girls 4x100 meter relay, Norwalk St.Paul finished fifth, with Olivia Livengood, Maddie Meyer, Bella Stoll and Lydia Ott running 50.35.  Col.Crawford's team of Taylor Clayton, Chelsey Webster, Bailey Scott and Taylor Kelso finished seventh in 50.7.

Loudonville's Sierra Wright had a big day.  She anchored the Redbirds 4x200 meters relay team that finished 8th in 1:47.3 and she finished as state runner-up in the D-3 girls 400 meter dash in 57.05, while just missing the podium in the 200 meters finishing nin th in 26.4.

In the girls D-3 3,200 meters Fredericktown's Sarah Fowler came in third in 10:56.4.

In Division II, in the 300 meter hurdles, Ontario's Lenell Shelby made the podium finishing in 8th place in a time of 39.48.  Shelby's teammate Cameron Mack, earned All-Ohio honors taking seventh in a time of 22.67.

And in Division I, Lexington's Bryant Switzer finished 6th in the 400 meter dash in 48.6, while Madison's Frank Douglas took 4th in the D-1 300 meter hurdles in a time of 38.4.
