The Col.Crawford softball team saw their bid for a state title come up short to Strasburg-Franklin Saturday in Akron by a final of 7-4.

Strasburg-Franklin wasted no time in getting on the board first scoring two runs in the home half of the first to grab a quick 2-0 lead, but as they did in their semifinal against Parkway, the Eagles came back to take the lead in the top of the third with a three run homer by short stop Kendra Hudson.

Franklin would answer back with a run in the bottom of the third to bring the score back to three all after three.  The Eagles regained the lead in the fifth inning on a solo home run by right fielder Cassie Sager making it 4-3 CC.  But the Tigers would answer with a run of their own in the fifth making it four all after five.  After the Eagles were held scoreless in their half of the sixth, SF would rally for the deciding three runs in the bottom of the sixth to go up 7-4.

In the top of the seventh, Strasburg was able to keep Crawford off the board denying the Eagles their second state title and settling for their third runner-up state softball finish in school history.  With the win Strasburg-Franklin wins the D-IV state softball title with a record of 30-5, while Colonel Crawford finishes as D-4 state runner-up at 19-10.
