Though school may be out sports camp are in full swing. Which means alot of head coaches are still pretty busy, especially new ones. At Mansfield St.Peter's former Galion and Ashland University standout basketball player Shani Rush will take over for Bill Tomsich who stepped down after last season going 152-61 in nine seasons taking two teams to the final four in March 2005 and 2012.

Rush says some things will change but just as much will remain the same. She sighted she took the job because she was very familar with the players and also because of the tradition at St.Peter's. The Spartan girls have made 12 trips to Columbus since 1980. Rush will also welcome back six lettermen from a team that went 17-6 a season ago led by 6" Della Hall, 5'6" guard Tiza Jones and 5'6" guard Megan McCarrick. Last season, the Spartanshad rare short tournament run falling 62-51 to South Central in the D-4 sectionals. Much of that was due to injuries suffered at about the midway point of the season. Maybe the biggest loss for Rush was the graduation of the Spartan girls all time leading scorer in Randa Payne.
