The first racing event at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course took place this weekend with the running of the Diamond Cellar Classic Grand-Am event.  In the two hour 45 minute race, Joao Barbosa and Christian Fittipaldi gave Action Express Racing its first Daytona Prototype win of the season in the #5 Corvette DP, leading the final 22 laps of the race.  For Fittipladi, it was his first win at Mid-Ohio after making the podium three times in Indy Car.

In the Grand Touring division, Bill Auberlen and co-driver Paul Dalla Lana scored their second consecutive win at Mid-Ohio in the #94 BMW M3 off a penalty for avoidable contact by the #31 Chevrolet Corvette driven by Marsh Racing driver Eric Curran who crossed the finish line first, but was penalized one minute and 24 seconds.  Curran and co-driver Boris Said finished fourth after the penalty.
