A dietician was at the Ashland Road Kroger store Friday, teaching homemakers how to read the labels on foods, so they know better how to buy the most nutritious items.

The two-hour instruction starts with time in a classroom setting, followed by a tour of the store.

Med-Central Health System Dietician and Diabetic Educator Jill Fulk says many people either don't understand, or don't bother to read the labels, and some foods are good for you while others should be avoided.

She recommends fruits, vegetables, and whole grains, but to stay away from processed foods which may have high fat or sugar content.

The nutrition classes are held once a month, alternative between the Kroger stores on Ashland Road and Lexington Avenue, with morning, afternoon, and evening sessions.

For the dates and times of up-coming classes, and to pre-register, call 419-520-2550.
