Ontario City Council has taken a firm stand against panhandling in the city.

Council approved an ordinance Thursday night making it illegal to panhandle on any public or private property without the written permission from the owner.

The decision comes following a series of growing complaints about panhandling in the area.

In other business, council discussed the plans of a Fortune 100 distribution company to purchase land in the Industrial Park.

If an agreement can be reached the company would employ 150 people.

The issue will be discussed at the upcoming economic development meeting on July 5 at 5 p.m.
