A Lexington man is facing federal charges for allegedly receiving and distributing child pornography on a computer,.

Peter Schmidt, of 179 Otterbein Drive, was arrested June 6 by Lexington Police at his sister's home. During a search of the residence evidence was seized including a CD containing child pornography.

A $1 million cash bond was set in Mansfield Municipal Court but the case was dismissed and federal authorities refiled.

Schmidt appeared in federal court on in Cleveland where he waived his preliminary hearing.  The case has been bound oter to the grand jury.

Court records reveal nude images of a child were sent to an undercover special agent with the FBI Washington Field Office who was chatting with an individual on a pornographic website.
