  Trooper Jason Murfield was promoted Wednesday to the rank of sergeant during a ceremony Tuesday at the Ohio State Highway Patrol's Academy and will remain in his current assignment at the Mansfield post to serve as an assistant post commander.

  Sgt. Murfield began his patrol career in November of 2006 as a member of the 147th Patrol Academy Class.
 
  He earned his commission in June of 2007 and was assigned to the Mansfield post where he was selected as Trooper of the Year in 2010 and 2011.

  The Ohio State Highway Patrol is an internationally accredited agency whose mission is to protect life and property, promote traffic safety and provide professional public safety services with respectm, compassion and unbiased professionalism.
