The Sports car Vintage Racing Association put their classic racers through their paces at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course in Lexington this weekend.  Though the weekend has their share of races, for many it's not so much making the podium but the pride they have in their cars.

From Ohio, Dan Furey who used to be an active racer on the IMSA circuit, still races his 1974 Chevy Vega that he built into a race car that still has the same body work that he designed for it back in the '70's.  From Colorado, Scott Blackett races a 1967 Chevy Camero.  Blackett says the car's chassis was found in a junk yard and built up from there.

Both race the SVRA curcuit all around the country and both say that Mid-Ohio is not a horse power track, but a techical track where the driver really has to be skilled to get around at a good speed, if not you could find yourself off in the grass.  The next event at the 2.4 mile roadcourse is coming the weekend of July 12 through the 14th with the Buckeye Superbike Weekend.
