A food giveaway was held for two hours Tuesday at Hawkins Corner, the new home of the District Five Area Agency on Aging.

Community Programs Manager Teresa Cook says this was a first-of-its-kind cooperative effort by the agency, Catholic Charities, and the Cleveland Food Bank.

Seven pallets of food; including watermelons, canned carrots and green beans, onions, lettuce, sweet corn, and instant mashed potatoes; were handed-out to 200-300 people.

Eligibility was determined by the Cleveland Food Bank, based on recipients' self-declared income.

The next Catholic Charities and Cleveland Food Bank giveaway is in August at South Park off of Park Avenue West in Mansfield.
