Mayor Tim Theaker has announced that the Free Parking Program in downtown Mansfield is being suspended this Friday, July 12th.

The program was established in 2011 to bring visitors to the downtown area for shopping and to increase local traffic to area businesses. Unfortunately the city has recieved several complaints that visitors could not locate ample parking due to cars being parked at the meters all day.

Accdoring to Theaker, visitors were still putting money in the meters on Friday which suggests the program is only working for employees of downtown businesses. The Mayor also says the program could be reinstated if warranted with the full intent of benefitting downtown merchants.
