A Mansfield man was shot three times in a drive by shooting outside his residence Wednesday night.

Paul Crawford, 38, of 187 N. Benton St., was shot just after 5 p.m. He was taken to MedCentral Mansfield Hospital and later transported to Grant Medical Center where he's listed in serious condition.

Mansfield police say it appears a dispute between the shooter and Crawford may have led to the shooting.

Authorities say an hour before the incident,  the shooter reportedly drove down Benton Street at a high rate of speed almost striking Crawford's 9-year-old daughter. Police say they have unconfirmed reports that the driver returned to apologize and was assaulted by Crawford. Authorities say the driver may have shot Crawford in self-defense.

Authorities say the shooter is described as a black male driving a red vehicle.

Anyone with information about the shooting can contact Det. Matt Loughman at the Mansfield Police Department at 419-755-9730.
