Ready said a good samaritan driving by saw smoke coming from the home, stopped and awoke the family.

"The passer-by went up knocked on the door and woke the residents up. They evacuated the home," Ready said.

"It seems the fire started in the garage, spread up through the walls into the attic and to a bedroom on the second floor," Ready said.

Ready saod there is extensive fire and smoke damage throughout the home.

No one was injured in the fire.

Firefighters from Troy, Madison, and Washington townships and Mansfield provided mutual aid.

Ready said the cause of the blaze remains under investigation.
