Former Galion Teacher Sentenced On Sex With Student Charges

  Original Published: 7/30/2013A former Galion High School teacher was sentenced Monday for having sexual relations with an underage student. Ryan Tanner, 36,  appeared in Crawford County Common Pleas Court to plead guilty to three counts of Gross Sexual Imposition. He was originally charged with five counts of Sexual Battery. Judge Russell Wiseman sentenced Tanner to six months on the Volunteers of America sexual offenders program, plus five years of controlled supervision. Wiseman noted Tanner has already served 183 days in jail, awaiting trial. The former social studies teacher was arrested in January, following a Galion police investigation into allegations he had a sexual relationship with a 17-year-old girl.
