Nine senior citizens were honored for their volunteerism Tuesday, during the District Five Area Agency on Aging's 13th annual awards ceremony. The Outstanding Senior Citizen awards go to one person in each of the agency's nine counties. Diane Ramey, the agency's assistant director and chief of long-term care, says each senior volunteer performs a valuable service to their neighbors and the agency. Ramey says volunteering keeps seniors feeling active and young. The winners are: Roberta "Bobbi" Harpster of Ashland County, Dieann Frost of Crawford County, Robert Krupp of Huron County, Melody Brent of Knox County, Carolyn Flickinger-Heimlich of Marion County, Doris Hilebrand of Morrow County, Randy and Barb Lookenott of Richland County, Gene and Anita Meili of Seneca County, and Jackie Graeser of Wyandot County. The Community Service Award recipient of Chester Arbor of Gleaner Fraternal Insurance Society of Morrow County.
