The Galion Tigers will try to go 2-0 on the season for the first time since 2009(10-1), when they take on the Madison Rams at Heise Park Friday night in the teams home opener. Madison and Galion have not met in football since the 2002 season when Madison won at Ram Field 35-7. Both were a winner in week one, Madison beating Shelby 54-6, Galion rolling over Milford Center Fairbanks 40-12. According to Galion coach Chris Hawkins, he states if you want to be reguarded as one of the best teams in the area, you have to be able to deal with Madison. To beat the Rams, Hawkins says you have to stop the run, if you don't you will be in for a long night. Last week against the Whippets, Madison collected 429 yards of offense with 394 coming on the ground. For Galion's part in week one, the Tigers had 412 yards of offense rushing for 294 yards using nine different backs. Quarterback Dareian Watkins led the bunch with 141 yards running. Passing wise Watkins went seven of 19 for 118 yards and two touchdowns with two interceptions. Alex Armisted caught both TD's and six passes overall for 115 yards receiving. The Madison at Galion contest will be the WMFD Game of the Week, with playback at midnight and at 8:30am Saturday morning.
