Original Published: 9/15/2013 The Mount Gilead post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol, in conjunction with the Mount Vernon Police Department and Knox County Sheriff's Office, conducted an OVI checkpoint Saturday night on Coshocton Road at Vernonview Drive in Mount Vernon in Knox County. The OVI checkpoint was funded by federal grant money and was planned to deter and intercept impaired drivers. The checkpoint was held in conjunction with nearby saturation patrols to aggressively combat alcohol-related injury and fatal accidents. As always, the patrol reminds motorists, if you plan to consume alcohol, designate a driver or make other travel arrangements before you drink. The patrol says don't let another life be lost for the senseless and selfish act of getting behind the wheel impaired.
