A 16-year-old boy was arrested and charged with drug trafficking Saturday following a search warrant being served at a home at 119 1/2 Pleasant St. in Mansfield. He was taken to the Richland County Juvenile Attention Center.

Mansfield Police officers went to the home after receiving complaints of drug-related activity there and observed a white female attempting to swallow some type of narcotics after she saw officers at the door. Officers also noticed a strong odor of marijuana emanating from the home and requested assistance from the METRICH Enforcement Unit in drafting a search warrant, which was obtained.

During the search, detectives seized a quantity of marijuana, 12 individually wrapped packages of heroin, approximately 13 grams of crack cocaine, 13 ecstasy pills and 59 doses of various forms of hydrocodone.

A .38-caliber Derringer pistol and $4,540 was also confiscated by detectives.

Additional charges will be forwarded to the Richland County Prosecutor's Office after the investigation is closed.
