Jobs are available in Richland, Ashland, and Crawford Counties, but employers are having difficulty finding applicants for them. So the Richland Community Development Group, Job and Family Services, One-Stop Employment and Training Center, Madison Adult Career Center, Pump House Ministries, and Goodwill Industries organized an employment expo, held today at the Mid-Ohio Conference Center. Richland County Job and Family Services Assistant Director Lori Bedson says 52 employers registered to attend, and a couple more showed up. They represented numerous types of businesses. All were required to have openings they were trying to fill. The expo gave job-seekers the opportunity to start the process of finding work. Kelley Bush, Director of Mission Services for Goodwill, says candidates could submit applications and even be given a preliminary interview. Bush says Goodwill holds many employment expos and finds they do work, when it comes to helping people find jobs and helping employers fill long-vacant positions.
