October is National Domestic Violence Awareness Month, and the Domestic Violence Shelter in Mansfield is preparing for the observance. Jill Donnenwirth of the shelter told the Richland County Commissioners Tuesday morning about two up-coming events. One is the kick-off, Tuesday October 1st at noon at the Gazebo in downtown Mansfield, with several speakers and hot dogs, potato chips, and cookies being served. The other is a candlelight vigil, Thursday October 17th at 6 pm at Ovalwood Hall on the Ohio State-Mansfield/North-Central State College campus. Residents are also asked to leave their front porch lights on all night October 1st, as a show of support for domestic violence awareness and prevention.
