West Holmes took the lead early and never looked back in Tuesday night's 2-0 shutout at Lexington.

Junior midfielder Mallory Wahl scored just 59 seconds into the game with a rocket to the top left corner. Hannah Schlegel would do the same with 7:58 to play in the first half for a 2-0 Lady Knights lead and both squads would go scoreless in the 2nd half to secure a West Holmes victory.

Lady Knights head coach Joshua Wengerd says it's a big win for his program over a quality opponent on the road. Wengerd added that it's a goal of the team every season to finish better in the OCC than they ever have before and that his team is already ahead of schedule.

Wahl says that her early goal really pumped up her team and kept the Lexington defense back on their heels. She says the win boosts the squad in the OCC standings and she looks forward to moving up in the league.

West Holmes improved to 4-1-5 with the win and will next be in action Monday at home with Wooster Triway. Lexington plays at Mount Vernon on Saturday.
