October as "Drug Free Prevention Month" was kicked-off Tuesday at Mansfield Senior High School. Students filed into the auditorium to learn how they can help themselves and their classmates stay away from drugs, alcohol, and tobacco and lead happy, healthy lives. Community Action for Capable Youth Director Tracee Anderson says the theme for the month is "Above the Influence", highlighting the positive choices teens can make. And the work of CACY, not only during October but all year, is paying-off. Anderson says 20% fewer students in Richland County are using drugs and alcohol than the statewide average. Mansfield Mayor Tim Theaker was on-hand to present a proclamation, flanked by Captain Ken Coontz and Lieutenant Keith Porch of the METRICH Drug Task Force.
