Grand Opening Held For New Cosmetology School

A new school has opened it's doors in the city of Ashland. A grand opening ceremony was held Tuesday for The Elite School of Cosmetology, 1165 E. Main St. Co-owner Lisa Wilkerson said the school offers an extensive curriculum that covers all hair services, esthetics, skin care and nail techniques. "We teach an 1800 hours course on Managing Cosmetology, a 300 hours course Managing Manicure and a 750 hours course on Managing Esthetics," Wilkerson said. "After completion of the Managing Cosmetology and Managing Manicure courses, and passing the State Board of Cosmetology, students will be qualified to work in, manage or own a salon or nail salon," Wilkerson said. Lisa's husband and co-owner, Rob Wilkerson, also serves as the financial aid director for the school. He said all the school will offer full-time day courses. "Starting in December we'll be the only full-time day program to offer Title 4 financial aid funding in Ashland, Mansfield and Wooster," Wilkerson said. Following the ribbon cutting an open house was held for the school. The Wilkerson's also own an Elite School of Cosmetology in Norwalk, Ohio.  Enrollment is now open for the next class set to begin on Dec. 13 at the Ashland location.
