Original Published: 10/2/2013MedCentral Mansfield Hospital's Invasive Cardiovascular Medicine program has earned a prestigious recognition. Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield has given the cardiac care unit the Blue Distinction Centers for Specialty Care designation. Cardiovascular Medical Director, Dr. Gregory Eaton says this award is the result of 10 years of recruiting a top-notch staff of 11 cardiologists and 65 nurses and technicians, and working hard to improve heart care at the hospital. There was a time when many Mansfielders would say if they had a serious health problem, they would go to Cleveland or Columbus. Dr. Eaton hopes this award is another of many reasons for local residents to trust their hospital. Dr. Eaton says MedCentral's cardiac unit has reached a great place, but there's always room for improvement and he and his staff will keep working to provide---as the slogan goes, "expert care close to home".
