Macy's May Reverse Policy For Thanksgiving Day Closing

  Original Published: 10/15/2013 Was it only a matter of time? Could Macy's really be breaking a 155-year tradition? There are reports that Macy's will open on Thanksgiving Day and stay open for 24 hours straight. One employee told the Chicago Sun-Times she received a memo stating the store would open on Thanksgiving night at 8 p.m. Macy's has not responded to the reports. The trend started last year, when Walmart and other retailers announced they would open their stores at 8 p.m. on Thanksgiving Day. In 2011, many stores began opening at 12 a.m. on the morning of Black Friday, the day after Thanksgiving.
