After defeating West Holmes 23-17 at Arlin Field on Friday night, Mansfield Senior is off to their best start since 1931, when the team went 8-0 out of the gates. The 7-0 Tygers will look to match that mark this Friday when they travel to Wooster for a date with the 2-5 Generals.

Although Wooster may have a subpar record, Mansfield Senior players and coaches say it's not indicative of the talent the Generals possess. The team says they are definitely not taking this weeks challenge lightly and are preparing to stop a dangerous Wooster running attack.

If the Tygers can indeed run their record to 8-0 with a win on Friday, the team says it would be a big accomplishment to be a part of history. They also said that completing the program's first ever 10-0 season hasn't even come up yet and that they're just enjoying their success one game at a time.

Mansfield has experienced evolving success since Tygers head coach Chioke Bradley started with the program four seasons ago. The team captured a share of it's first OCC football title made the playoffs for the first time since 2002 last season. The team is currently ranked third in Division II Region 5, well on their way to hosting a postseason game this season.

Bradley, along with other members of the coaching staff were also a part of a great team in 1993 as players that went to the playoffs for the first time since 1975. Bradley was asked by a player if his team from 20 years ago could compete with this years squad, to which he confidently replied that the '93 squad would, "come out and run this 2013 team off the field."

A game has yet to be scheduled between the '93 and '13 teams to determine that outcome, but highlights and analysis from Friday's Generals vs Tygers contest can be seen Friday evening at 11:30 on WMFD's Scores and Mores.
