Lexington captured a sectional championship Thursday night at Mansfield Senior High School with a 4-set win over Galion.

Lady Lex took the opening game 25-21 then rode that momentum into game two with a dominate 25-13 performance. The Tigers battled back for a 25-22 win in game three, but Lexington jumped out to an early lead in the fourth set and never looked back, ending the match with a 25-17 win, fittingly on a kill by sophomore Mackenzie Weaver.

Despite having a team high 20 kills and 8 blocks, Weaver says she wasn't entirely happy with her performance, but thought the team played well as a unit.

Lexington head coach Bobbi Weaver thought Mackenzie played very "mature" by setting up her teammates with favorable one on one battles. Coach Weaver added that her role players needed to "step up" for them to be successful and they did against the Tigers.

Junior Alannah Lemming finished with 10 kills for Lex, while teammate Kaitlin Hunter led the team with 11 service points and Ellie Guth dished out 37 assists.

Lady Lex (16-7) will move on to the Seneca East district next week for a probable date with Norwalk (19-3), who beat them in a tournament earlier in the season.

In game 2 at Mansfield Senior on Thursday, Madison walked over Ontario in 3-sets. The Lady Rams cruised to their sectional championship 25-8, 25-20, 25-9.

Madison (23-2) will get the winner of Milan Edison and Bellevue in a district semi-final October 23 at Seneca East.
