Area businesses busted for selling alcohol to minors

Five businesses are in violation of the METRICH Enforcement Unit's latest alcohol and tobacco compliance check. METRICH received assistance from the Ohio Department of Public Safety, Ohio Investigative Unit, the Mansfield Police Department, Richland County Sheriff's Office and CACY with the compliance checks. The compliance check was conducted Monday, Oct.21.

The stores that sold alcohol to underage persons included Circle K, 98 Lexington Ave., Mansfield; Lexington Beverage Center, 27 Plymouth St., Lexington; Hamilton's One Trip Marathon, 244 W. Main St., Lucas; Shell Station, 750 Ohio 97, Bellville; and Marathon Station, 3636 Park Ave. West, Ontario.

A total of 55 businesses were checked throughout Richland County.

The clerks of the violating businesses were all issued summons. Liquor violations are pending on the business owners.
