The Flyers (8-1) came to Mapleton (6-3) knowing they would be in a dogfight. Mapleton Struck first, picking up a fumble and returning it 50 yards, going up 6-0. Save for a monster 76 yard TD reception by Brandon Bahr, the Mounties remained silent for the rest of the game. The Flyers did not score a single point in the first quarter; however, they would go on to score 14 points in each of the remaining three, winning the game with a final of 42-13. For the Flyers, RB Brad Smith finished the night with 184 yards and a TD. Jaret Nickoli rushed for 58 yards and three TDs, and Jesse Gross added 92 yards and two TDs on the ground and 62 yards through the air. QB Scottie Slaughterbeck was 7/14 for 128 yards and one interception. The Flyers held Travis Pickering to 58 yards on 18 carries but struggled a bit with the pass. Mapleton's Wade Barone threw for 149 yards, one TD, and one interception, and Brandon Bahr racked up 111 yards and one TD through the air. The Flyers host Monroeville next week, and the Mounties will look to bounce back at Western Reserve.
